In my area of Indianapolis, three of the most important stocks and flows are gas/oil, people, schools and snow. 1. Gas/oil is a very important flow imported by gas stations and energy companies for transportation and home uses. In vehicles, it is burned, and the heat is used to run engines. In homes, it is also used for heat or fire (on a stove). 2. People are also a very important flow. For school, students travel usually in the morning and afternoon to and from their homes. The schools they go to can be considered stock in the city. 3. Snow is an important flow this time of year. It comes in different quantities at different intervals. Quantity of this flow impacts accessibility between stocks in the city. Gas and oil will slowly be replaced by more renewable flows like solar energy. If more jobs are created or if local schools get better, more people might come to this part of Indianapolis. In other terms, if centrality increases, the quantity of flows will (likely) also increase. It is also possible for schools to grow in number. Lastly, decreases in snow would increase accessibility, while winters with more snow would have the opposite effect. (Picture: my snowy front yard)
