Most livable cities 1. Vienna, Austria (in the picture, Wiener Rathaus) 2. Brussels, Belgium 3. Kansai region, Japan 4. Singapore 5. Utrecht, Netherland Five characteristics 1. Public health 2. Public transportation 3. Public space 4. Community integration 5. Happiness My hometown, Mueang Uttaradit, is located in Uttaradit province in the northern part of Thailand. It is a small and quiet city with population of 150,341. 1. Public health - Uttaradit Hospital which is the provincial hospital is overcrowded. People tend to rely on the private clinic organized by the doctors who work in the hospital. 2. Public transportation - Due to its small population, there is no public transportation in the city. People use motorcycles and cars to travel in everyday life. 3. Public space - There isn’t many good public spaces. People don’t go to park or library for recreation. However, people have a chance to interact to each other while they are shopping in the market. 4. Community integration - People tends to know each other and their family. However, community service participation is low. 5. Happiness - Even though the weather is hot for the entire year. People still have a good life because of low cost of living and close community. Since it is a small city and a local university that attracts some students in the region, both recreational and learning spaces should be developed. Participation of community is needed to make the city better to live.
