Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand where I spent 6 years studying and working there. Most important stocks and flows are transportation, food and water. More than 10 millions people are traveling to the city everyday. There are both local people who live and work there as well as more than 10 millions tourists visiting the capital every year. Because the public transportation is not convenient, most people uses private cars or taxis for traveling which always causes the traffic jam. Mass rapid transit system is developing to solve this problem but it lacks of good planning and the cost is still high. Travelling by boat is a good option but the safety is not reliable. Bangkok is famous for street foods on the pedestrian. This block the walking path and make the city dirty. However, the food is cheap and delicious, but sometimes not clean. People don’t cook a lot and rely on that kind of food. Bangkok cannot produce agricultural products so it need to import those materials from other provides around the country. In the expensive supermarket or restaurant, ingredients can be imported from foreign countries. Frozen foods are available from Seven Eleven, 24/7 shops which you can find everywhere in the city. Once upon the time, the city has been so called “The Venice of the East” from its famous river-canal systems. Nowadays, those rivers and canals are polluted by household wastes. Water management is also poor. When there is a huge rainfall for 20-30 minutes, flooding along the roads can be observed. Not only the flood, but also garbage and cockroaches will emerge. People are suffering from traveling around when there is flood because the traffic will be the worst. These stocks and flows are critical for the city of Bangkok. Accessible public transportation can reduce traffic jam and improve life quality of people. Planning should be done based on the mobility of people. People could have both fresh and safe food if the administration enforce the regulation. Finally, clean river can open the opportunity for boat buses network and new recreational spaces for every people.
