1. Think and comment on an existing Citizen Design Science project in urban design and planning from your area or country. Not a lot of Citizen Design projects have been accomplished in Sarajevo. That type of practice hasn't yet reached these places and most of the projects are exlcusively run by architects or architectural firms. On the positive side there have been some projects run by the citizens but those only included some types of organising more green areas or reconstructing some public spaces. So there wasnt a lot of projects where citizens would be asked what they would do to improve some segments in the city that would result in improving the overall livability in the city. 2. Think and comment on the following example: Habitats of a certain neighborhood don’t feel safe when they walk in their neighborhood in the evening and during the night. You are working for the local government and want to solve this problem through improvement of the public spaces. How would you start-up a Citizen Design Science project? The project has to be visible and easy to access to all groups of people, from young people to senior citizens. A poll should be organised for people who live in that area and visit those places often. One of the root problems of crimes is unemployment but the people should be able to effect that problem on an urban scale. The intiative should be made on having a better lighting in those streets and even controling the street with cameras. The police patrols should also pass through those places more often. The thing that could be done is to fill that street with a variety of content and/or events so that area could lively up a bit and make it harder for people to commit crimes in more dense places. 3. Imagine that you have set up a project wherein you would like to make use of Citizen Design Science. Which guidelines are important in creating your own Citizen Design Science project? • Ensure that every citizen feels like his voice matters and that he can change something. • Ensure that the people talking with the people are highly educated indviduals who care about that community and their lives. • Implementing a software where people could also put their suggestions and others could also vote for different suggestions
