Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? * Distance from water; * Width of streets; * Height of buildings (in terms of heat and wind); * Location (N, S, E, W); * Heat pollution from households/companies/shops/ etc.; * Traffic. 3. Which are the measures you would propose? In order to reduce UHI effect in this city, I would propose: use of solar radiation reflecting materials for buildings instead of absorbing materials (both color and material type); could consider more green areas (however, this is something that has been taken care of already); increase people interest in public transport and bicycles rather than personal cars (partly taken care already in the city center by reducing parking plots). 4. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? I am not informed about any specific plans in connection to UHI effect.
