2) Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area? Urban heat island effects in Netherlands are not that massive as in the United States. The cities are smaller and even if Nederlands are densely urbanized, there is not that big difference between temperatures in the city and in the rural area. In amsterdam there is lot of canals. The water is cooling the air. Amsterdam is a city of cyclists. Individual transportation by car is very reduced. Electrification for individual transportation, which is systematically happening already. Cyclo-friendly and wolkable city planning. 4) Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area? There exist climate change monitoring in the Netherlands. However, it exist just in the short term versions, there is insufficient long term financial support for climate monitoring programmes.
