I have read and studied the temperature differences of several US cities from the link Climate Central. **2. Which are the main UHI effects that you can identify in your area?** ![The city of Mumbai: Lower Parel][1] ![Outskirts: A hillstation called Amboli][2] In my area, the main UHI effetcs include extreme heat waves ( called the Loo ) that are humid and dry. Large scale Industralization with glass and steel buildings makes the city center EXTREMELY hot. We have seen a decline in the rainfall over the last 3 years, with the rainfall falling by 41% in 2015 since 2011. The lakes have become congested and the city is shockingly pollluted as cars get cheaper and gas gets more expensive. Burning of garbage openly is another detrimental cause the heat and poor air quailty. Going vertical is the way Mumbai chooses to address its growing Housing problems, but the ground quality is neglected and deteriorating rapidly. **3. Which are the measures you would propose?** Increasing the Green Spaces in the form of Vertical terraces, Using natural materials for building and managed dumping of solid and liquild waste would make a HUGE difference. Shifting Industrial zones away from the City Center could reduce the Pollution and stress at one point. Is UHI effect concerning policy making in your area?** Sadly there is no UHI concerning policy implemented at all. Apart from leaving a minimum open area in the city, laws are being flouted left, right and center. The government needs to open their eyes and look at the benefit of the city in the long run.
