The climate central website shows New york city is 20 F hotter and Philadelphia is 21 F hotter than its rural surroundings. Both the cities are closest amongst the other cities mentioned in website to the the place I stay. Ans 2) I live in Stamford, Connecticut USA. Stamford is a small city of approximately 52.1 sq.mi and a population of 128,278 accourding to 2014 Census Bureau. I could not find the exact data on Heat Island effect in Stamford, however according to the temperatures recorded, Stamford is approximately 5 F hotter on an average from its rural surrounding through out the year. ![enter image description here][1] Stamford City ![enter image description here][2] Lakeville (Village) ![enter image description here][3] Lakeville (Village) Ans 3) Possible Measures: - Increase trees and vegetation - We could select comparatively fast growing trees and shrubs. Plant shrubs along the pedestrian walkways - Green roofs - Cool roofs - Cool pavements - Take measures to reduce green house gases which increases heat Ans 4)The UHI effect is definetly a concern in policy making of Stamford.
