The beautiful butter-silk stone used for the facade can only be found in a few quarries in Palestine, Jordan, and Oman. The fact that this specific type of stone was imported to the US to offer an attractive facade that implies a luxurious status is proof of a globalised economy in building construction. Interestingly, this example differs from the ones in the lecture, where developing countries adopt the basic western construction techniques and import materials such as steel, since in this case a developed country imports from less developed areas. Of course, globalised economy is affected by this to a lesser degree.
