This is a photo I took of [Glasgow Science Centre][2] in Scotland, which houses a three-floor exhibition area and IMAX cinema in the formerly industrial Pacific Quay area by the River Clyde. Completed in 2001, the eye-catching design is notable for incorporating river cooling technology and for representing the [first instance that titanium has been used as a cladding material in the UK][3]. Titanium is a [highly practical material for construction][4] as it is strong, lightweight, resistant to corrosion with a long architectural life span and requiring minimal maintenance. Although I wasn't able to determine exactly where the titanium was imported from, it is highly likely to have come from one of the following six countries where its ore is mainly mined: Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Norway, and South Africa.
