Per se, the image already shows a step to the de-glogalisation of building materals. Nigeria was a large importer of cement for decades until the Government, aware that the raw materials needed to produce the product were available in the country, incentivized local production. Local and foreign investors accepted the challenge and today Nigeria is self-sufficient in this building material. In the picture you can see the concrete structure of the building, very probably made with imported materials to produce the cement needed for the mix and the imported steel used for both the handrails and the rooftop. One can also appreciate the concrete blocks, locally made using traditional techniques and the stone walls built with local stone to secure the stream banks from collapsing and to channel the water coming from strong rains in the rainy season (7 to 8 months per year).
