As shown in the Sankey diagrams for Egypt, natural gas and oil are the most dominant energy sources, respectively. Hydro power also exists as a third source (from the high-dam), but far less than gas and oil. ![enter image description here][1] ![enter image description here][2] **2. Where are the dominant fossil fuels mainly used for in your country?** As shown in the diagrams, oil is mainly used for transportation, as well as residential needs. On the other hand, Natural gas is used mainly for industry (factories, steel plants, etc...), along with non-energy use. **3. Create a new policy in order to improve the environmental friendly and sustainable sources and consumption of energy of your country.** My policy will rely on several strategies and measurements, including: - Limit the use of fossil fuel; make more taxes for non-sustainable industries, and strict penalties for air and water pollution. - Egypt has tremendous potentials in both solar and wind energies, long-term plans should be made to rely completely on these two sources in the next 50 years. - Decrease the funds for importing oil and natural gas; invest these funds in research and development of sustainable power stations run on renewable resources. - Go down to the scale of individuals; encourage families to use the photovoltaic cells as an independent energy source for their homes, offer-funding options from the government. - As transportation is a main consumption source, strictly limit the use of private cars, by limiting their import, especially for high consumption cars. At the same time, promote the idea of public transportation (electric buses, railway and tram) and cycling, offer reliable transportation options that are cheaper and faster than commuting with cars. - Pay extra money for government workers who use sustainable transportation ways from and to their workplace. - Invite environment friendly corporations, and car makers, such as Tesla, to invest more in Egypt. Omit the taxes on them and offer advantages to that industrial sector (free land for their factories, free electricity, exclusive governmental contracts, etc...)
