This element is supposed to be a commemorative monument for the Bicentenary of Mexico’s Independence. Even though Mexico has a great amount of resources (marble, for instance), the winning architecture team and government decided to use stainless steel structure produced in Finland and forged in Italy and 3500 plates of quartz from Brazil. It is built above a cultural center. Critics think that the chosen materials as well as its delay in construction and delivery are due to corruption. This situation also describes the impact of globalization in construction processes and economy. ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14343324912335163.jpg
