It is a traditional style of construction which would originally have used local wood for the beams. This has recently been replaced by north European wood (eg Norway), as the climate is more regular in nordic countries and said to produce stronger wood with less variations in its consistency. The roof tiles generally come from northern France. Scaffolding made of steel or aluminium is either made in France or in neighbouring countries. Other globalised materials include bricks and cement which have been created with sand extracted from the sea bed in the ocean, where we hope the impact will not be noticed, but it has a devastating sinking effect on the nearest beaches.
