---------- This is a more intimate look at construction materials in the residential apartments in the city of Mumbai, India. ![enter image description here][1] We see a picture taken from a 40 year old building, where the window frame is made from wood. But what we see is a more recent 5 year old adjacent building, where the windows are made from aluminium and glass. And while glass and aluminium for windows are now manufactured within India, they still have to be transported over far greater distances than wood. And another layer in the preference for 'windows' is that the rich folks in Mumbai, actually take great pride in using window fittings which are imnported from Germany - supposedly for their better engineering! Also visible is the airconditioning unit for temperature regulation in the new apartment building, while in the older building we see branches of a tree probably planted for the same purpose 40 years ago.
