Picture taken by myself on June 4th 2015. The school development project displays a good example of the large reliance of modern construction processes on pre-fabricated concrete elements, steel and cement. Large quantities of cement are visible on the foreground and reinforcing bars are visible on the first floor structure. All of these materials are imported into Singapore which makes the local construction industry very reliant on international trade. However, it is worth noting that the building and Construction Authority of Singapore is also trying to promote the use of dry partition walls in order to reduce the dependency on sand and water, typically used for concrete mixes. This is aimed to diversify the potential sources of materials and make the construction process somewhat more environmentally friendly. ![enter image description here][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14333872855357183.jpg
