In the old town the streets had to be renovated and a construction with paving stones was chosen. The material is typical for the region and could have been supplied sustainable of a source just approx. 100km away. Nevertheless the paving stones were delivered by an Asian company and transported several thousand kilometers because it was even cheeper. Regarding the CO2 emissions due to the long transportation this globalized activity was not sustainable. Because of this globalized opportunities and the high costs of products supplied in Germany often non sustainable ways are chosen above sustainable ways.
