Photo: Avante - Antiguo Cuscatlan - El Salvador Central America is pretty well known for the fast growing cities, in almost every aspect related to development, the capitals of those countries have experience a completely new perspective. Under construction terms, the materials improvement and new technologies have created a new horizon for architects. Mainly glass as material for the highest buildings facades, is the probe that materials have change. The assimilation of glass, concrete and steel are the beginning of a new architecture generation for those cities. Exposing the materials at they're natural look is the new trend. Buildings growing higher, straight lines, solid colours, transparencies and energy generation are the keys now a days, however, and besides the beautiful shapes and looks, climate conditions are not always the best partners in our area, and we definitely have to explore into better ways to apply the materials beyond the aesthetic. For example, Avante, one of the most advance buildings (techlogy speaking) has issues with the energy abosortion, since El Salvador has shining bright and hot sun almost everyday a year for around 12 hours per day, the energy receptors are over expose, which means the mantainance has higher costs as expected and ironicaly it doesn't produce as many energy as the design reflected at the beginning. Also economics are something to consider, since we are importing the three main materials in our construction methods is really important to rationalize and wisely use those materials to really explode they're potential.
