It was built in the 60 and early 70s but had to be reconstructed in the 2000s due to the use of asbestos as a fire retardant. Asbestos used in France was largely imported from Cananda after 1962. This is an obvious example of a building material that was widely used globally without understanding the consequences, with a disastrous outcome. It is also an example of architechture failing to take into account the local environment. The open spaces under the buildings act like wind tunnels, making the environment on the concrete slab the buildings are constructued over very unpleasant, particularly in winter.
