Uploaded on 2015-04-19 by sesuzuki
Taken for the upper level of Bern’s Cathedral, the image shows the linkage between the old town and the extended modern areas of the city. In analyzing visible information, we can identify different building styles matching both areas of the city. Yet, styles does not only refers to formal typologies but also to materials and building system employed. Additionally, we can identify main urban infrastructures connecting the city as well as the presence of natural areas shaping its geometry. Invisible information extracted from the visible information of this image can draft a map of where main activities are located by matching building typologies with areas for leisure, working or living. Moreover, the densification of the city is also an invisible information that can be identified by analyzing image’s pixel. Therefore, by matching image’s pixel, we can understand how city is growing and where green areas or urban infrastructure are required. [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14294564679397946.jpg
