Alcalde Avenue is one of the major arteries of the historic center in Guadalajara, Mexico. Currently, the third subway line is being built, which will connect the historic center with Zapopan and Tlaquepaque (North West and South East of the metropolitan area, respectively). Before the construction started, this avenue was the one with the most bus routes in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, around 40, which have been distributed along nearby streets. This has caused disturbance in buildings that weren't used to the noise and traffic, while the main street is now empty most of the time. Of course, this is only temporary. In the picture, you can see the street is now being used as parking. There are few pedestrians and a few young people playing soccer. The invisible information in the picture shows the lack of recreation facilities available to the inhabitants in this area, that are now taking advantage of the temporary situation, since there aren't any public sports facilities nearby. Another thing worth mentioning about the invisible information is how the current lack of public transport in the street has affected life in the adjacent neighbourhoods, because of the decreased affluence of pedestrians (that now take buses on adjacent streets) and cars. This can be seen as an economic impact on the commercial functions in the area, both formal and informal (many informal street vendors have relocated to the smaller streets), but also on the quality of life of the people that live in this street (that aren't many considering the land use is mostly commercial).
