This photo was taken from a hill over my city Igoumenitsa (Greece). The photo shows the international port (Greece -Italy and cruiseships) plus a part of the domestic port (at the right part of the photo). Also on the left side of the photo we can see part of the city. The first piece of invisible information can be drawn from the photo is that the city's economy is in a high percentage been based on marine traffic. This has as a result many people and services moving and developed in, around or close to the port area. That becomes more obvious observing the large size of the port area comparing to city size. The second piece of invisible information we get from the photo is that depending the period of the year in general, and in a daily schedule, the people and the enterprises that involve to "port life" has different tense on their working pace. So depending the time that a ship arrive or leave, and depending if is international or domestic, different actions take place(different amount of people to deal with, different demands, different directions they will follow, etc) The observation, visualization and comparison of the annual data of ship traffic in/out the port, can provide us many useful information that we can make use in order to better organize services and infrastructures of the city, in order to make the accommodation of the visitors, travelers and in general people involve to this area, more livable and stronger connected to the other parts of the city.
