In particular there are parking cars on the left, a truck and a car as well ass a bus lane / bus stop and a bus on the other side of the road. It' s very busy. Traffic lights approx. every 200m. At a few traffic lights/stops you have green colored signs for bikes on the road and sometimes signs for cycle lanes but no obvious separated cycle lanes. what is invisible: Wellington is a city made for cars not for cyclists. cars hardly share the road. Often roads are far too narrow or one way directed. I am feeling quite insafe as a cyclist in this environment. what to do: more clear or extra cycle lanes are needed. a first step would be probably to start with wider streets or seperate cycle trails/ areas within the city, in general more awareness and acceptance for cyclists. there were a few events in the past that have this goal, i.e. critical mass. These events could have the function as knowledge base, examine the needs and wishes of local cyclists, how many cyclist participate, open a discussion of rights for cyclist etc. From their perspectives data could be collected in form of opinions and experiences. As Wellington has a poor public transport system cycle lanes and areas would be a good alternative.
