Trafic lights and Gas pumps
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2015-06-29 by muj
The visible information is that there are traffic lights at the intersection, there are two gas pumps on the right hand side. There is also pedestrian crossings (with signals) and there are left turn lanes on the roads indicating the needs for such lanes. Finally, there are bike lanes on the side of the road that have been used to improve and provide a safer commute for bicyclist. Two invisible informations that can be extracted from the visible information are: 1. We can measure the traffic flow through the intersection using the traffic signals. This is helpful in urban planning by expanding or improving the existing road lanes (as was already done with the left turn lanes on the road) 2. The other invisible information is the usage at the gas pumps, which can help inform the gas demands of the surrounding regions. [1]: http://i.imgur.com/l8XX8M8.jpg
