Many people come to this market to shop for all manner of produce. Some come by car, some by bus, some by bike and others by simply walking. Some stallholders are more popular than others due to their competitive prices or their high quality produce, or because they offer a better more personal service. We can eventually imagine a system whereby people's shopping behaviour is collected and analyzed and where pricing information is collected to see how the latter influences the former. Knowing for example which stalls are more in demand and for what reasons would help planners decide where best to situate these stalls to avoid pedestrian bottlenecks, and how many licences to issue for each type of stall depending on the demand for different types of products and the differing seasonal needs. Both these things would help the market to operate more efficiently and therefore sustainably. Note: Photo sourced from internet
