This is a picture of an urban space in the central part of Aalborg. It is mostly used as a transition space for people moving out to the boulevard or people going into the doctor clinic located at the plaza. Close by is a salvation army, which attracts homeless people to the plaza, thus enhancing a mixed use between social classes. Information in this photo: - The usage of the urban space and whom it attracts. Hangout spot, childsplay, teenagers taking selfies etc. (normally there is people in this place, but unfortunately not at this exact moment.) - Transition. Where and how the people flow are moving to and from. - Traffical activity in the central part of the city. - during the night time and weekends, you can sense the different time usage of the buildings wether they are residential or public/business oriented. Key information. How to create a space that is encouraging towards a mixed use between social classes, in matters of transition and recreational interests. How a flow system for walking people and bicycles are structured within the central part of the city. This can be used for information about how to make urban areas work in the human scale, and to understand the factors behind making a good enviornment for recreational use betwen social classes.
