Visible Information: This is a view of the Meridiana Avenue, in Barcelona. We can see a wide avenue with an important traffic capacity, vehicles, traffic lights, sidewalks, rows of trees, urban furniture and people walking. Two continous walls of large residential buildings are located on both sides of the street. Occupying the ground floor of these buildings there are many modest shops, bakeries and cafes. Invisible information: 1) Traffic density during different periods of time. Impact of this traffic on the urban environment, inhabitants and services (level of noise, pollution, etc.) ) 2) Patterns of pedestrian behaviour. How these pedestrian public spaces (sidewalks and little squares situated along the street) are used by the citizens. Knowledge for a more liveable urban space: From this information we can make a comparison and analyze the interaction between both, pedestrian and vehicular flows, to set a strategy that can help us to reconcile them in a new and accurate redesign of this important avenue.
