By analyzing the traffic patterns during different times of the day, we can set the traffic signal changing times. The direction which has larger traffic flow can have the green signal turned on for a larger time compared to the the other. This will help reduce the block, and also reduces wastage of time. 2) A Detailed study can be done on the shops and buildings on all sides of the junction. By doing so, we will able to find the easiest way for future expansion of the highway. Mark the shops which can be easily shifted to another location. (The picture is from Internet)
