There are two types of information you can provide us this simple picture, the first is that vehicular traffic jam is formed mostly by taxis, the second in the individual transport has become very common to use bikes agility and economy. 3. In my city Medellin, is common to see traffic jams at any time of day, caused often by public services (taxis usually), this should not exist in the era we live environmentally conscious because one of the main methods for mitigate pollution, accidents and economic losses in the cities is to stimulate the use of public service, and that people do not form jams with their vehicles but lack the proper use of the information, the local administration has no solutions beyond a measure called "Pico y Placa" depending on the end digit vehicle identification this is prohibited from leaving in a few days or hours. According to information found on the Internet, the Medellin metropolitan area has about 30,000 taxis, which doubles the amount of approximately 15,000 New York, considering the number of inhabitants of the latter is five times higher. I think to solve this problem you need to innovate new means of transport that do not share the same pathways private cars, here in Medellin, have built several Metrocables (urban cablecars) which cost of construction and maintenance medium, also only they need a few pillars that take up little space in a city where building is challenging for its rugged geography and tight spaces. It is also electrical and produces little pollution.
