Bus Station in Chengdu, China
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"
Uploaded on 2015-04-15 by DanielSchmidtDK
The first piece of invisible information can be drawn from the amount of busses and people, plus the relative big size of the bus station, despite this not being in a city center. Obviously, bus transportation is a popular form of transportation in Chengdu. The second piece of invisible information comes from the fact that busses entering the station is actually blocking the way for the busses leaving the station, which results in no busses being able to move, creating a jam. This suggest that despite the large size of the bus station, the development and popularity of the transportation form has been too fast, now surpassing the infrastructure, and creating inefficiencies. Looking at this picture, one can conclude that the current infrastructure is not sufficient for the demand. Better flows (of busses and people), perhaps by means of traffic lights, could improve the urban design. Underground metro systems could also prevent public transportation from being impacted by personal cars and trucks. ![Bus Station in Chengdu][1] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14291048766742153.jpg
