The intersection has pedestrian traffic crossing the road, 2 lanes of bikes and cars going both ways and also two lines of trams in the middle of the road, close to the tram stop. Also not pictured is the bike path that ends at this intersection, and the bikes must cross this road to keep going towards the city to the right. The problems arise during peak hours in the morning and afternoon when crowds of pedestrians and bike users are trying to share the same crossing. Some of the invisible information that can be extracted is patterns of travel behaviour by each transportation method at different times of day, traffic flows with the help of sensors and drawing connections between the data. This can aid us in improving the infrastructure for the better and help us understand the city. For example, smarter traffic light periods, smarter traffic lights - with bikes having a little head start and clear road markings segregating pedestrians and bikes.
