![enter image description here][2] This is a photo of Nanjing Road. It is a crowded pedestrian mall in Shanghai, China. 1.Visible information in this photo: In this photo we can see several buildings along the road, some trees in front of the buildings, a trolleybus is coming and many people are hanging around. We can also see a few advertisements of Olympus, some clothes and other products. However, a big thermometer attached to the exterior wall of a building visualized the invisible temperature. 2.Invisible information: The first one is that we can monitor the ventilation in this area. By collecting the data from sensors and make it information, the air flows can be seen. The second information which can be extracted is the distribution of people, for example where do most people prefer to sit down and have a rest. Do they prefer to sit under the trees or outside a café, etc. 3.To get the knowledge of the distribution of people, data should be firstly collected of how many people have rested in each place every day at different time in different seasons and weather. Based on the data, a model can be made to represent the distribution of people under different circumstances. From analysing the model, planners can discover if trees should be increased to provide more shades for pedestrians, squares should be added as public spaces, or more seats are needed, and thus make actual changes to make the road more comfortable for people.
