The photo is taken from my office balcony. It is view over Dikmen district, Ankara/Turkey. Visible information: We can see that district is not planned. All buildings look like a mess, they are all different, but still we can not see anything standing out. Nothing to catch the eye. There are no green areas, no open spaces, no sports areas. We cannot see the street network. Roads are not planned either, the streets are winding. No walkways and so bicycle lines. There is no general architectural style. Invisible information: All buildings look like residential, although a lot of them are offices. Nobody can distinguish an office building from a residential one in this neighborhood. The big problem in this area is transportation. If you would like to get from a building in front to a building on the hill, you should go by bus to the city center then change a bus and so you can reach that building. And that route can take more than 1,5 hour. Information: Districts should be planned. The main reason is that private landlords sold sites one by one. So in place of slums or wasteland arose those residential/office buildings. Street networks, all buildings design, quantity of public and green spaces should be verified by an urban planning organization. Citizens of any district in the successful city should have green and public areas. They should have chances to do sports and other activities, kids should have chances to play in parks and playgrounds. Office building should differ from the residential ones. Transportation network should be improved. [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14297906338164595.jpg
