New Transit Bridge in Portland, Oregon
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 1 : "Making the Invisible - Visible"

This bridge, which will be completed in 3 months, will carry light rail, streetcars, buses, bicycles, and pedestrians. But NO CARS, which is not common for the USA. The tall buildings are a dense new development of housing and hospitals, medical schools, and research labs. The pylon visible by the far end of the bridge carries a cable tram to hospitals high on the hill. The main downtown of Portland is off the photo to the right about one kilometer. This makes visible that the new development is dense and very good for bicycles and pedestrians--but it reveals that the land along the river does not take advantage of this--it belongs to an industrial shipbuilder and does not tie into the transportation at all.
