From looking at this photo, you can see that trains and bicycles are two types of transportation being used. The concrete plaza indicates that pedestrians are catered to and gatherings are encouraged. The blossoming trees indicate that it is Spring, and the trees lining the park show that vegetation is valued in the urban setting. The buildings in the background are rather large, but not towering, and they reveal that modern industrial construction techniques are being used in the city. BICYCLES: Integrating bicycles into an urban environment takes a significant amount of planning. Once you know that bicycles will need to be accommodated, steps can be taken while designing the layout of a city to allow this transportation method to be incorporated more functionally. In Cambridge, the roads commonly provide bicycle lanes and bike paths connect the city to suburban areas, allowing people to commute by bicycle from long distances.
