[1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14328191853011787.jpg I chose to focus on the area of Dubai where I work - Dubai Media City. Visible information: 1. This is a mixed-use area, with both residential villas and apartment located near to educational and corporate buildings. 2. The moving traffic is minimal, though there are considerably more parked cars visible. 3. Buildings are low-rise, though the angle of the image suggests it's taken from a height - it was taken from the 32nd floor of a building. 4. Outside of the residential compound in the upper right of the image, there is very little greenery. Invisible information: 1. Traffic is extremely heavy during rush hour, from 7.30-9.30am, and 5.30-7pm. The traffic lights and roundabout are a source of considerable congestion, with the majority of commuters in the area using the junction visible to exit onto Sheikh Zayed Road, the main highway. 2. Parking is a serious issue in the area. There are many buildings, but very little visible parking space available. 3. The lack of greenery/planted areas in the non-residential zones in the picture suggest that this is an area that people do not come to for recreational or leisure purposes - this is an area designed for commerce, and will therefore likely be very quiet outside of working hours. Taking point two above, one significant factor that can be used to improve the area and make it more appealing to residents and workers alike is to create more parking spaces, or to increase the accessibility to public transport in the area. This will enable ease of access and reduce frustration, while also cutting back on congestion - particularly if more public transport is introduced.
