People - Tirana is the capital and economic center of Albania. Every year, a lot of people choose it as their work destination. Thousands of students come every year in Tirana, and while some return at their cities after their studies, the majority of them stay in Tirana. The city’s population is increasing more and more and this trend is expected to continue in the future. Construction - Construction industry has had its peak during the last two decades. Mostly residential and mixed-use buildings have created a large stock in Tirana. Construction is now facing economical difficulties and in the future there will be a decrease in the spaces dedicated to construction. Traffic - Every day, thousand of cars and other transport vehicles occupy the streets of Tirana. The majority of them are used for transport inside the city, while others use Tirana’s streets for transit. Early mornings and early evenings are the busiest periods of the day, something related with the work routine of the city’s inhabitants. The future probably will bring reduction of cars in the streets due to initiatives that promote alternative transport methods and bicycles.
