Yaroslavl, Russia - stocks and flows
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 2: "Stocks and Flows"

I've outlined 3 stocks that we posess: 1 - buildings (our city is 1005 years old, and we've save and preserved lots of XV cent and on architecture, the whole city center is under the UNESCO protection). Now we have lots of unathorized graffiti activity going on on them. So if you have any ideas how to vanquish and banish them, I'd love to read your responces! My idea here: to invest into really gorgeous new building techniques so that modern edifices are not uglier than the historical ones. And to stop that graffiti-spreading. ![enter image description here][1] 2 - Volga the river (the biggest river in Europe) - our city stand on Volga banks. It eas there in the past and it is now. The river shapes the way we live. We love fishing, there are many yachts and touristic ships crousing the river. The constant problem is traffic jams on the bridges. My idea here: make the city more resilient and eco-friendly by stopping putting industrial wastes into its waters. Volga is the dirtiest river in Europe! The authorities don't recommend swimming in it. But imagine a big city in a hot summer day - of course, we would like to bathe and have fun. But we can't really. ![enter image description here][2] 3 - good ecology - we are a big city, but mainly recreational still, so we don't have that many plants, so ecology is relatively nice here. My idea: financially encourage plants to install proper fumes-cleaning equippment so that we can save our air clean for as long as possible ![enter image description here][3] Flows: 1 - Tourists. My city is the biggest one of the Golden Ring - famous Russian touristic route. So they come and go, esp. in the summer in really big quantaties. And we love them, actually! My idea here: make touriststry out more of our national food and also produce more of it locally in a nice presentable form so that they can take it home as a gift, enjoy and learn something as well. 2 - Snowy winters - our winters are really snowy and relatively warm - not like in Siberia. However, they are real winters without rains practically, not like in the most European countries. It starts snowing here typically in the beginning of December and snow melts in the beginning of April. So we have like 5 months of proper winter. Here my idea is simple: we lack ski renting pitstops where you can take ski for several hours in order to enjoy it. That's a pity. ![enter image description here][4] 3 - Waste. Ok, that's the way every city functions. Like a living organism, it produces wastes. So we have them and try to get rid of them as fast as possible. My idea here: recycle more. In my city only some enthusiasts recycle. The majority of people doesn't really. Though lately we see more recycling bins for plastic, glass and paper respectively, so I hope here we are going to see some change soon. Feel free to write your opinions!
