1/ Migrant/People: Marseille is a very old city which was created by the Phenicians (Greeks) 2600 years ago. Since then, the city has seen a lot of migrants, either transiting to embark whether towards the South, Africa, whether the North, Europe, or settling in the city and staying there. Today, migrants come from North Africa mainly but there is also a lot of Parisians who decided to move to the South to have higher quality living standards (climate and less stressful way of life). In the future, these stocks and flows should not change but increase because of the greater attractiveness of the city. Source of the picture: © A. Hesnard, maquette D. Delpalillo (CCJ, CNRS) 2/ Workers: There is a lot of traffic in Marseille as people commute every day. Economic and business areas are mainly located outside the city, next to another city, Aix-en-Provence. But housing is very expensive in this city, that's why people prefer living in Marseille, where purchase and rental are cheaper. This could change in the future by implementing an adequate public transportation network that would better connect residential areas and workplaces outside of Marseille and fight against pollution. One thing that would benefit to the area would be to bring production places closer to consumption areas. That would allow for consuming local and seasonal products, thus benefitting to local economy and farmers living in Marseille area. Urban farming would also be an option worth developing. 1/ ![Migrant/People: Marseille is a very old city which was created by the Phenicians (Greeks) 2600 years ago.
