People. People can represent as ‘stocks’ and ‘flows’. As population of Ankara is more than 5 million people, we can consider it as ‘stocks’ and people who are travelling to and out of the city as ‘flows’. People who immigrate to the city can also be considered as ‘stocks’. This photo was taken at Central Bus Station of Ankara, where we can see the huge number of busses and can imagine how people travelling to, out or through the city. ![enter image description here][1] Finances. Ankara is the second largest city in Turkey, and of course is a significant financial center. We can consider bank accounts and capitals as ‘stocks’ and bank transactions as ‘flows’. Information. Ankara is also a home of several important universities. The concept of stocks and flows can be represented by the example of information, that come to the universities and then remain there as data, books, scientific works and knowledge in general. In this way ‘flows’ of information become ‘stocks’. In the future more people can immigrate to the city from the suburban areas, thus population as ‘stocks’ can be increased. Also more people can travel through, to or out of the city as new destinations for buses/trains/planes open constantly. We can imagine that Ankara will be more important financial center in the near future, as more and more people prefer do their businesses in Ankara, rather than Istanbul. Since several campuses, libraries, research institutes are under construction these days, we can predict how ‘flows’ and then ‘stocks’ of information can increase.
