Three examples of significant Stocks and Flows are transport, density and information. Transport. Current transport feeds include the Chatswood to Epping underground rail tunnel with Stations at Macquarie Park, Macquarie University, North Ryde. The M2 Motorway passes directly through the area with on and off ramps integrating with the road network. Additional transportation services are to be provided with the replacement of existing train carriages with single deck fast trains every 4 minutes. Additionally, a light rail service is to provide access for employees coming from the Parramatta CBD into Macquarie Park. The M2 Motorway has recently been upgraded with additional lanes. Density. The investment into Macquarie Park includes the expansion of the Macquarie Shopping Centre propelling it into the top 10 retail precincts in the country, new office towers facilitating head office quarters for international companies, new residential activation hubs and support services such as finance, restaurants and entertainment, recreational facilities significantly changes density of the urban scale of this area. The density, on all scales, is rapidly changing to one of a tighter more intense environment. Information. The Macquarie University has announced the construction of an additional 500,000 m2 of office space, complementing the existing administration, research and development both by the University and private enterprise. The University provides a strong offering to South East Asian students, providing the opportunity for transferring knowledge back to their own countries. Benefits. This movement of the stocks and flows causes significant change to the dynamics of North Ryde and Macquarie Park in particular. The additional transport services benefits both the immediate locale, and the broader northwestern Sydney region, in the faster and more efficient movement of goods and people. Additional business development, associated employment, education and integrated residential and recreational activities make for a stronger and more dynamic local economy within which to live, work and play.
