I live in the city of Porto Alegre, located in the southern Brazil. Although the country is internationally remembered for being tropical, here in the south there is a different weather. This feature generates a flow of people, because in winter it snows in some places in the state and a wave of tourists invade the cities. These cities which realized its tourism potential, stockpile materials (food, water, clothing, etc.) to use during the high season. Within the planning for the high season there is the flow of information. Because of this information on the amount of cars on the road strategies are thought so that tourists come there. These stocks and flows are essential parts to tourist cities, and without them, these cities would have to change its economic profile or disappear. Among the tourist cities in the south, Gramado stands out, because this city has managed to create a steady stream of tourists during all periods of the year. From November to January the Christmas season happens. The city is all lit up and there are several shows everyday. From February to April the Easter season happens, in which once again the city is adorned and is all colorful. From May to August it's the winter period and the city hosts a very famous film festival in the country. All these events create not only an intense flow of people, but also a flow of money, information and materials However, this intense flow of people can not influence the maintenance of the density which has been falling in recent years. A good alternative is to leave the attractive city for residents as well. This might happen if there were investiment in good schools, creation a mixed economy, not completely dependent on tourism.
