Stocks and flows in Montreal, QC
FC-01x Future Cities (1st Run) - Exercise 2: "Stocks and Flows"
Uploaded on 2015-06-15 by MGSayah
Its stocks include: a) parks b) public transit c) biking lanes Its flows include: a) a growing number of students b) new condo buildings c) density of the suburbs The amount of parks in the city has not changed, the Mount Royal park is still our biggest park and the height of the cross located at its peak sets the maximum height of buildings in the city. Public transit remains the an important crucial aspect of the lifestyle of this city, whether it’d be the train, the bus or the subway system. No new biking lanes have been built in the last year, the city of Montreal was the only north american city featured on The Copenhagenize Index, but now it has lost its fame and has to second position after Minneapolis in Minnesota. There is a growing number of students in this city. This relatively small city that covers an area of 499.19 km2 (192.74 sq mi) has a total number of 11 universities and over 170k students, this makes it Canada's largest university city. Montreal also features an over-flood of condo building constructions. These condos will for the most part remain empty, partly because the suburbs area is increasing and the density of the suburban area is increasing rapidly. The stocks and flows mentioned could change in the future to benefit the area, because as the suburban area population density increases and as the number of students grows there will be an increased amount of urbanization in the area and an increased amount of knowledge that will help this city grow.![enter image description here][1]![enter image description here][2]![enter image description here][3] [1]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/1434336667518677.jpg [2]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14343367299510651.jpg [3]: https://edxuploads.s3.amazonaws.com/14343367404216187.jpg
