The people who live in Santa Monica could represent a stock of people. However, the people who come to visit Santa Monica beach just to relax, have fun, or eat would be considered as flows. Since many visitors are flowing to the city especially on the weekend and they are spending money on restaurants, bars, etc, capitals are flowing to the city. The city has been increasing in popularity and thus increasing in its density. Santa Monica has been at the forefront of promoting sustainability. With the availability of light rail in 2016 that will give access to people from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Monica, this will further increase the flow of people, capital and density to Santa Monica. This will also result in real estate price increase in the city, which means that the capital stock will increase.
