This photo was taken in Barcelona (Spain) and it shows part of the city cargo port. This is one of the most active ports in Spain, and probably the main source of supplying for the city. Artificial platforms have been progressively built into the sea to gain more surface for the port operations. As a result, water channels form a private transportation network. An internal railway circuit and road system complement it. As the three networks overlap, the coordination between them is fundamental for the port proper functioning.
