Indeed the rise of global construction technics entails that more and more buldings shamelessly display the same facade pattern: hundreds of AC units. Those are obvioulsy a non structural element of the building, but they can also be considered as a non sustainable material: it generates pollution and CO2 both during manufacturing, as it is made of cheap electronic components involving the use of chemicals, during its use when a lot of energy is needed to cool down a warm room, but also in between its fabrication and its use, as it needs to be transported overseas, usually from Asia. And this is merely a consequence of a poor integration of local climate, natural ventilation and vernacular methods of construction in the original design.
