In the photo you can see the Isar River running through the city of Munich. It has its own bicycle infrastructure; two direction lanes can be seen on the right corner of the photo. It has also walking paths (as seen in the center). The river bay is used all year round for jogging and taking the pets out. There are also outdoor gyms open for everyone What you cannot see in the photo is that the river is used for energy production for the city. It is also an important habitat for local species and a transport route for bicycles since it crosses the city. In summer, people congregate on its shores to grill and take baths. There are small stores where you can buy food and drinks and mobile toilettes are available. To know what the citizens do for leisure is also a very important aspect of the city. The information on how many visitors come in the summer can be used to manage the waste they produce and also to manage safety hazards like fire. Furthermore, information on how many bicycles use the transport routes can be used to manage traffic flows by incentivizing green mobility.
