![An inter-emirate highway][1] The desert region of Dubai has been transformed from an arid and dry under-land into one of the foremost cities on the planet via fast-paced development and brilliant strategies. This has been due to the fact that infrastructure have been given utmost importance and their development and maintenance has led to a city of dreams. The efficient transportation system coupled with neutral governmental policies have led to the city becoming a business hub in the region. Another fact that has aided this development is that the region is financially very strong and the low cost of transportation due to the presence of black gold - "petroleum" has created a unique supportive environment. Energy can be efficiently synthesized from the petroleum available in large quantities and their is no dearth of an efficient system in place to address energy transportation. Water is a resource that is critically lacking in an arid desert region. The deficiency of something teaches us how valuable the resource is. this critical knowledge helped in setting up policies that made efficient use of the available resource. The major source and supply of water is through the various desalination plants that have been set up. Drinking water is supplied from the oasis. The small size of the country coupled with low population has facilitated the setting up of systems to meet the annual demand of the population. These systems work in tandem to ensure that the best of technologies is available to the populace. This has also increased the standard of living of the population and this has led to the creation of a hub that attracts talent and this has in turn led to infrastructure of the highest standards even in the case of health.
