Macau being a small island without any major industrial production is heavily relying on import of building and construction material to cater for projects of this scheme. The owner of the Galaxy Entertainment Group is the K. Wah Group which also owns their own building material production plants in mainland China. As seen from the photo, the main building contractor is a company called Hsin Chong Construction Limited (name on the crane), which is a Hongkong building company. The steel used for the ‘steel reinforced concrete’ construction method comes from China (presumably from the K. Wah Group) and all other accessories required, such as drywall, skim coat, etc. needs to be imported. E.g. for the drywall to be used at the JW Marriot Ballroom, the product USD Boral plasterboard had been chosen, which is being manufactured either in Australia or other parts of South East Asia. Summarizing up, this particular construction exemplifies how nearly every part and process of a building contains components of a globalized economy, from the ownership, to the main contractor, to major superstructure elements and even downright to drywall elements.
