I choose this example because this building would became the tallest building in Colombia, but the wrong materials selection forced its demolition long before the building were completed. The materials to be used in its construction are: reinforced concrete , steel and glass in most of its structure. Colombia, especially Cartagena, produced cement and steel, even though, we consumes more than is produced. The construction of La Escollera Tower imported a huge amounts of steel and glass.
